24hrs on New Japan Airlines First Class | Asia – USA
In this video, the traveler embarks on a 24-hour journey in Japan Airlines’ First Class, flying nearly 10,000 miles from Bangkok to New York with a layover in Tokyo. The adventure includes two legs: the first on a Boeing 777 and the second on the brand-new Airbus A350, featuring JAL’s latest First Class Suites.
Starting at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, check-in is smooth and includes access to fast track security and the JAL Sakura Lounge, where the traveler samples Japanese curry. Boarding is via a bus gate, leading to an 18-year-old 777 aircraft. Once on board, the First Class Suite offers privacy, comfort, and pajamas for the overnight flight. The short 7-hour hop to Tokyo includes a disappointing meal service, but a good amount of sleep before arriving in Japan.
At Tokyo Haneda, the layover includes time at JAL’s expansive First Class Lounge. Highlights include buffet dining, a sushi restaurant with a live chef, a shoeshine service, and a shower before the long-haul flight. Boarding the A350 brings a step up in luxury: spacious, tech-packed suites with wireless charging, built-in headrest speakers, and 43” 4K TVs.
The 13-hour flight to New York features an extensive Japanese menu, including delicacies like blowfish, caviar, and tilefish, paired with Salon 2013 champagne. The seat converts into a comfortable bed for rest. A second meal includes ramen and a pork cutlet sandwich. The video also explores the new business class, showcasing its own fully enclosed suites.
The ticket, which can retail over $113,000, was booked for $9,400 by originating in Bangkok. The video notes that the same route can be booked with points, like 80,000 AAdvantage miles, if availability allows.
After 24 hours of luxury, the trip concludes with arrival at JFK.
